ABOUT US & SUSTAINABILITY
WHY I STARTED CLOSET CYCLE
I was frustrated with how much effort it took to shop sustainably. Finding ethical brands, avoiding fast fashion, and making eco-friendly choices shouldn’t feel like a full-time job. That’s why I created Closet Cycle—a secondhand clothing box that makes sustainability effortless.
HOW IT WORKS
We collect clothing donations from our community and redistribute them in personalized subscription boxes. Our goal is to keep clothes in circulation, reduce waste, and make secondhand shopping more accessible.
WHERE OUR CLOTHES COME FROM
Our inventory comes from two main sources:
1️⃣ Community Donations – We accept gently used clothing from individuals who want to give their clothes a second life.
2️⃣ Helpsy Source (Secondhand Bulk Wholesaler) – To supplement our inventory, we source high-quality secondhand and NWT/NWOT clothing from Helpsy Source, a trusted sustainable wholesaler. These items may include:
- Customer returns
- Overstock from brands
- Sample items from manufacturers
WHY SECONDHAND OVER ETHICAL FASHION
While ethically made clothing is a great alternative to fast fashion, it still contributes to textile waste. Even the most responsibly produced clothing requires resources like water, energy, and raw materials to create. Eventually, these items can end up in landfills.
That's why we focus on keeping existing clothing in circulation rather than producing more. Choosing secondhand is the most sustainable option because it reduces demand for new production while preventing textiles from entering waste streams.
🌱 Future Goal: 100% Donated Inventory
Currently, we supplement our inventory with secondhand bulk purchases. However, our long-term vision is to source 100% of our clothing from community donations. By expanding our donation network, we can create a fully circular fashion system where every piece comes from and returns to our community—keeping clothes in use and out of landfills.
FLAWS YOU MIGHT SEE
Since we’re working with secondhand clothing, some items may have minor imperfections. However, most items are in great condition and completely wearable. We believe in extending the life of clothing rather than sending it to landfills, which means your box may contain items with:
✅ Small, washable stains
✅ Pilling
✅ Missing buttons
✅ Minor fabric runs
✅ Deodorant or makeup marks
✅ Wrinkles
✅ Small holes in seams or pockets
✅ Pet hair
We do not offer refunds or replacements for these imperfections, but we encourage creative fixes—try washing, repairing, or upcycling! Rest assured, these flaws are minor, and you’ll still get plenty of stylish, high-quality pieces.
KEEPING IT SIMPLE & AFFORDABLE
At Closet Cycle, we focus on what truly matters—giving clothes a second life and making sustainable fashion accessible. That’s why:
✅ Our packaging is minimal – We skip fancy branding and unnecessary materials to reduce waste and keep costs down.
✅ We don’t pre-wash clothing – Based on feedback from potential customers, most people don’t mind receiving unwashed secondhand items. Instead of adding extra processing costs, we prioritize affordability and accessibility.
By keeping our process simple and efficient, we can offer sustainable fashion to more people while reducing textile waste—not adding to it.
WHY THIS MATTERS
🌎 Fashion is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions.
👕 The average American throws away 81 lbs of clothing per year.
♻️ Choosing secondhand reduces waste, water usage, and pollution.
By subscribing to Closet Cycle, you’re not just shopping sustainably—you’re actively participating in a system that keeps clothing in circulation and out of landfills. Together, we can make sustainable fashion the norm. 💚♻️
